Club Soda's front doors will open on Aug. 21, and by the time they close on Aug. 23, Montreal will have hosted the closest thing progressive metal has to a homecoming. ProgStorm Festival returns for a second edition this month, and it's not creeping back quietly. It's coming back with a headliner who hasn't played North America in 20 years, a band that hasn't set foot in Montreal in 15, and a lineup nearly double the size of its debut. For three days, the sold-out energy of last year's festival gets a bigger stage to work with.

Country music takes over Oro-Medonte again this month. Boots and Hearts Music Festival runs Aug. 7-9 at Burl's Creek Event Grounds, and organizers have packed the weekend with some of the biggest names in country music today. Three stages, three days, and a lineup built to keep fans on their feet from the first note to the last. Whether you go for the headliners or the newer acts on the rise, there is a lot to see this year. Friday belongs to the Jonas Brothers. The pop-rock trio is not a typical country booking, but that is part of the fun.
