Broken Social Scene's Triumphant Windsor Debut Ends Two-Decade Wait

Broken Social Scene brought their Hug of Thunder Tour to the Olde Walkerville Theatre in Windsor on Friday for their first-ever headlining show in their nearly 20-year career. The only other time the band was here in the city was with Arcade Fire at the WFCU Centre in November 2017.

The band performed a variety of material from their catalog, including four from their latest CD Hug of Thunder, which was released in July 2017. BSS brought out an eight-piece band to the city’s oldest theatre for an evening of cool music. The musical collective also celebrated their musical universe with a cover of the La Force song TBT. La Force is the brainchild of Ariel Engle, a vocalist and the newest member of BSS (she appears on the Hug of Thunder CD).

It was a night where Windsor beat out Detroit for an awesome night of tunes. BSS frequently visits the U.S. city, and Windsor fans are often found crossing the border to see them play. But not this time.
