Multi-platinum, multi-Brit and Grammy-nominated British singer-songwriter David Gray brought his White Ladder: The 20th Anniversary Tour to The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor on July 14, 2022, after several sold-out arena shows in the UK and Ireland earlier that spring.
For the show, Gray performed two sets with no opening act. The first set, along with a couple of encores at the end of the show, consisted of Gray’s greatest hits amassed from his 12-album catalog. The second set featured a front-to-back performance of *White Ladder*, the seven-million-selling, trailblazing album that broke the singer worldwide and was the reason for this celebration.
It was a beautifully lit show that really shone during the *White Ladder* set. Musically, Gray bounced from piano to guitar as his incredible four-piece band played the entire *White Ladder* album in all its glory. The biggest hit, 'Babylon,' brought the respectful crowd to its feet as Gray and the band played it perfectly, allowing for a beautiful sing-along moment for those who joined in.
...what was really impressive was how he captivated those less familiar with the deeper album cuts and lesser-known hits.
Musicians in the audience were most likely surprised to see him perform on a slick Kawai M8, instead of the usual Yamaha pianos often seen at Caesars. The M8 packs the punch of a grand piano inside a much smaller digital keyboard, which provided the *White Ladder* album performance with its brilliant and gorgeous sound.
David Gray has always earned the respect of his dedicated fan base, who were out in force that night, but what was truly impressive was how he captivated those less familiar with the deeper album cuts and lesser-known hits. He’s an artist who can captivate his audience, much like Roxy Music has done since the 1970s.
That night was a great night for Windsor music fans who like to expand their listening skills and enjoy the music the UK and other parts of the world have relished for decades.
