Tiësto's Electrifying Canada Day Spectacle at Caesars Windsor

In an event that will be known as the biggest EDM concert in Windsor history, Dutch icon Tiësto took to the stage at Caesars Windsor on Canada Day with a show that overloaded three of the five basic senses - conquering sight, hearing, and touch.

With a blast of lights, lasers, and smoke bombs, Tiësto supplied an endless visual attack. With eight laser turrets spraying lights across the entire Colosseum as video screens projected images to bounce to the sounds, he took over the audience’s visual acuity like nothing the city has ever seen before.

The sound was louder and more pounding than any heavy metal concert The Colosseum has ever seen. As soon as the legendary DJ kicked off the show with 'Grapevine', the volume increased to blistering levels.

And Tiësto connected with his audience in a way many had never experienced. The beats were so pounding that you could feel the vibe as Tiësto blasted each beat one at a time. The addition of powerful fire blasts and smoke bombs were felt as high up as the upper mezzanine levels.

In some ways, this was an 11-year victory return to the city, as Tiësto last performed at the Boom Boom Room in April of 2011. His style is still the same as it was when he was here then. Back in 2010 and 2011, he used smoke and lights in a similar fashion that engulfed the entire BBR, and the music was so loud and pumping that there’s no physical way you could sit still during the show.

Unlike the rock stars of old, Tiësto’s shows are not actually about Tiësto himself. For the most part, he stands at his DJ kit in dim lights as the show around him tells the story. It’s the show itself and the music he’s remixed that is the legend and the victory itself. And it really is a show not to be missed.

Supporting the show was up-and-coming Brazilian DJ Öwnboss, who is hitting the charts with his massive hit 'Move Your Body' (which Tiësto also incorporated into his set). Öwnboss used a little more of a definitive feel to his mixes, including parts of classic songs like Guns N' Roses' 'Sweet Child o' Mine' and others. In some ways, the highlight of the show was the Öwnboss set, as Windsorites were treated to one of his first performances outside of South America.

Opening the show was Windsor’s DJ Kirzy, along with Ex Libras, who had quite a bit of stage time as the audience made their way into the venue. It was a solid set of tunes, beats, and smiles.

The ultimate star of the show was Renaldo Agostino of Element Entertainment, who strongly believed that Windsor fans would flock to see Tiësto on the big stage at Caesars. His dedication to bring the show to the city spanned about a dozen years, intensifying over the past three as he rescheduled and navigated COVID-19 arrangement issues. It ended up being the perfect time for the most perfect of shows.
