Burton Cummings: A Canadian Legend's Enduring Performance at The Colosseum

Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Burton Cummings returned to The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor on Friday, October 18, 2024, for an unforgettable night of classic hits and a taste of new music. At 76 years old, Cummings proved that he remains one of the premier storytellers in the game, captivating audiences with some of the biggest radio hits in music history.

The show, which marked Cummings' sixth headlining performance at the prestigious 5,000-seat venue, was part of his tour promoting his first album in 16 years, "A Few Good Moments". The setlist primarily featured beloved classics from his time with The Guess Who and his solo career, including hits like "These Eyes," "Laughing," "Undun," and "American Woman".

Cummings also treated the audience to a single song from his new album, "Blackjack Fever," showcasing a moodier and more thematic sound than his well-known hits. Despite the slight departure in style, the song still retained a bit of that classic Guess Who rock vibe from the 1960s that fans know and love.

The Guess Who classics were certainly the highlights of the evening, with Cummings delivering powerful renditions of "Albert Flasher," "No Sugar Tonight / New Mother Nature," and "No Time". The crowd erupted as he launched into "American Woman," which included a snippet of The Doors' "Roadhouse Blues".

The success of this sixth visit to The Colosseum, and the heralding of a new album, not only reinforced Burton Cummings' status as a beloved figure in Canadian music but also highlighted one of the best music catalogs in rock and roll history.
